GIESON CUSTOMS

MY BIO

Behind the Business

In 2016 I turned my attention to forging hand crafted one-of-a-kind knives. I try to blend artistic ingenuity into a centuries old craft of blade smithing with creations that have never been seen before.

My belief is that each knife should be unique, a standalone in rarity, to be admired, to be used. My dream is to make custom knives for feature films and television that are as unique as the characters that wield them. I recently competed against some of the best knife makers in the world on The History Channel's FORGED IN FIRE.

SERVICES

If you have always dreamed of making your own knife from raw materials, but didn’t know where to start, you can take part in my one-on-one hand forged knife making class, where you will learn skills that will stay with you for a lifetime. Why forge my own knife you may ask? Because the metal of a knife that's been fully forged will be harder than a knife that isn't, it can get—and stay—extremely sharp.

This two-day course will consist of forging a one piece everyday carry knife from high carbon steel. Use and carry this knife for anything life throws at you anytime, any day.

This class will allow you to understand the basics and skills needed to forge heavier stock to create your own piece in the future.

Day 1 The first day we will go over forging techniques, create the knife profile shape, initial bevel grinds, drill holes for the pins and finally heat treat the knife by quenching.

Day 2 will consist of final bevel grinds, polishing and finishing the handles, and constructing a Kydex sheath to protect your knife.

Minimum age is 11, students between 11-13 must attend with an adult. Every student 17 and under must have a waiver signed by a parent.
